Blogging shouldn’t be a hassle

Blogging shouldn’t be a hassle

But yet lately, it sure has felt like one.
I’ve been downright lazy these past three weeks and sadly I think I’ve slipped right back to my regular summer schedule. (Which basically consists of sleeping, eating, and sleeping some more.) Sleeping can be quite fun, and lately, I’ve been having some really realistic ones. For example, last night, I dreamed that I was choking on newspaper… and when I woke up, I found myself chewing on my comforter. Scary.

Anyhow, from now on, I’ll force myself to be more productive. And to start that off, I’m finally looking into colleges and possible majors I might want to pursue in the future. So far, I think I want to do a double in Graphic Design and Business. However, it is downright impossible to find a good school focused on graphic design or website development… and like a child of a good Asian family, my parents really want me to get into an Ivy League college. Honestly, I highly doubt that sort of school would take an interest in me anytime soon… unless I bribe them. Hey, the economy is bad right now, so why not take advantage of it?

Just kidding, if I had that sort of money, I wouldn’t waste it on something as stupid as that (:

Speaking of money, I’d really like to find myself a summer job… For some crazy reason, I want to experience hard, physical labor. I think it’d strengthen my character, as well as my weak jellyfish arms. (Even though jellyfish are quite strong, when they’re cooked… it’s basically the same substance that my arms are made of.) Sadly, I haven’t been able to find anything. It really irks me that all, if not most, of my other friends have “real” jobs. Basically…

“Wow I just put in so many hours over at Subway.”
“Huh… sounds fun…”
“It’s hard work, making money sure is hard.”
“Really?… Hm… still, sounds fun.”
“Do you have a job?”
“Yeah, I freelance, why?”

At this point, the conversation ends, because the other side is laughing his head off. I really don’t understand why freelancers are so looked down upon. Funny enough, a lot of people in my Driver’s Ed. class works at subway. I wonder if they get discounts…

So, it’s summer…

So, it’s summer…

For some reason, my summer break isn’t as great as I thought it would be. Well, I am quite pleased that I can go to the fridge any time and grab myself a sausage to chew on, but I have finally realized how long of a walk it is from the study to the kitchen. Besides that, I have also been forced to take Drivers Ed. Honestly, it’s a big waste of time, and our current student teacher is really getting on my nerves. For some reason, she feels the need to make us all pronounce our names at least ten times, and even more if you have an interestingly unpronounceable name, like myself and the other Asians in the room. (Which was not many… I guess all the Asians were smart enough to take Drivers Ed early). Really now, I didn’t think teachers were that picky about names these days, for example, when she tried out my name on her tongue, I half thought she was choking. Yes, the pronunciation was that atrocious. Honestly, there’s a word in the English language that sounds basically the same, “routine”. So I just went the usual route and told her my nickname, “Roo”, but that wasn’t good enough and before I knew it, I was spelling that three letter word out. Also, I’ve noticed that said student teacher has the attention and memory span of a fly. I kid you not…

Besides that, I’ve just been finishing up the odd commission here and there, and cleaning. Speaking of commissions, I’m offering a 30% discount on all of my web design services. Give it a shot, you’ll be glad you did.

Let the fun begin

Let the fun begin

Even though I didn’t realize it at the time, my easiest week of this school year has passed me by. And well, all that I can look forward to now are three or four more weeks filled with exams, AP something or another, and this atrociously complicated Spanish video project.

Yup. I can picture myself going crazy in the near future.
Besides that, I’ve been lining up a couple of pretty exciting projects, one of which includes a photo shoot with my model-to-be friend. I’ve really been getting into photography lately, and I think that this will be a wonderful opportunity to actually direct without thinking of product placement (which is what I usually have to worry about). Anyways, for those who have asked what type of camera I use, it’s a clunky old canon I got a year or two back. Yes, you don’t need the latest technology to take beautiful pictures, just an eye for scenery and lots and lots of patience with the elements. Wind can sometimes be our friend… just remember that.

Well, I hope that all of you are having a nice week and I’ll hopefully blog soon about the t-shirt situation, I know some of you were interested in that.

P.S. Remember that the free shipping promotion at http://www.rooeh.com will be ending tomorrow afternoon!

Shroom me up :)

Shroom me up :)

Yes, I am currently in the process of painting cute little spots on the soon to be shroom charms.

Anyways, thank you all for the supportive comments about last week’s unpleasantness, it was very much appreciated.

Thankfully, I’m actually getting a lull in my commissions (probably due to the fact that I closed them for a week, hu hu) which is giving me quite a bit of free time to work on my charms. Also, I’ve been able to sleep more than eight hours during the weekends, and devise new products that will be coming in the future. (For instance, cards and t-shirts… and also cute customizable pieces, I did buy that metal stamping set for a good reason, after all *hint*.)
