Orange-y

orangee

Hehe. So begins my attempts to insert more food-related posts into this blog. This is the yummy orange juice that I almost choked on this morning. I really have to learn to not to inhale while swallowing… sounds impossible, but I manage somehow.

Two years and still going

So Rooeh is now 2 years old. Time sure does fly.

Especially this summer…
Anyhow, before I get to rambling about all the things I’ve done this past week, it’s time to announce the winner of the domain competition. *Drum rolls* And the winner is… Stephine. Yay for you, your poem was cute.

Please contact me within 24 hours to claim your prize.

Anyhow, I finally found the time to go on a few photoshoots these last few days. Both of them at around 7:00 in the morning, which to a girl that’s used to waking up at 1:00pm everyday, is quite early in the morning. But I managed to get up, and the lighting we got was totally worth it. There is nothing like natural sunlight streaming through the trees. Although, I didn’t really take into account all the buggers that would also be up bright and early in the morning. That plus my inability to refrain from scratching equals two bloody and swollen legs- it’s really not as bad as it sounds.

My friend Syd told me recently that people are more likely to read a blog with pictures of food on it. In her opinion, cupcakes were the best bet. Basically, keep the complaining to a minimum, and boost the amount of food-related-blogs. So I’ve been browsing through my past blogs, 160 of them to date, and sadly, most of them involve me bickering. So, as my promise to you visitors, I’ll try and keep these things to myself. Or even it out with pictures of baked goods. In fact, I think I’ll try and bake myself some sugar cookies this weekend. Does flour ever expire?…

Domain competition

Rooeh.net will be exactly 2 years old in 10 days. So, in celebration of that, I’m holding a little domain contest. Here we go…

Rules

  1. You must have paypal- I’m not going through the domain-buying process for you, I’m just transferring the funds so that you can get it for yourself.
  2. Roo will not be available for set-up help. Unfortunately, I’ll be extremely busy in the next few weeks, but I’m sure customer support over at 1and1.com will take care of all your questions in the case that you get stuck.

How to play
This will be a fairly simple contest, all you have to do is leave a comment that has something to do with the word “Rooeh”. I don’t care if you link me to a picture you’ve drawn, write an acrostic poem, or something else random… I just have to be able to access it through the comments section of this post. In other words, I will not be checking my email, so if your entry somehow ends up there… too bad for you.

Well, that’s basically all I have to say on that. All entries must be posted by 10:30am central time on August 18th. The winner will receive the funds to purchase a TLD (.com, .net, or .org) from 1and1.com.

It’s amazing how people can change

So I’ve been Facebook stalking some of my old childhood friends back in Iowa. Yes, I, the person who normally laughs at the Facebook cult, am now lurking around on that ridiculous website. But not in vain, I’ve found out quite a few interesting things.

Okay, one interesting thing. Or should I say person?

Back up north, from the age of six to twelve, I knew a scrawny little Asian by the name of S _ _ _ _ X _ _ _. I have to be blatantly honest and say that she and I never really got along. Sure, we had the superficial friendship that was common among the younger munchkins, but I’d bet my lucky pennies that she hated me as much as I hated her. Yes, we were what I’d like to think as rivals, at least, in a twisted sense of the word. Yesterday, at 2:30 in the morning, I stumbled across her Facebook page and was shocked out of my mind. At first I didn’t realize this was the little scrumpy girl I knew, because 1. She had changed her name to Maria… (honestly?…) 2. She had gotten quite good at Photoshop and had pasted her face next to Demi Lavato’s and 3. She had gotten quite narcissistic. Okay, I can forgive that last point, since around this time and age, what girl in her right mind wouldn’t want to look good?

Anyhow, as I browsed her many ridiculous pictures, and thinking to myself, wow… and this was the girl that still had to sneak onto aim at age 15 because she was afraid of her mother… and yet she’s allowed to wear that incredibly disgusting shade of lipstick?, I got a surprisingly sad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I wonder if any of my childhood friends ever think to look me up… and I wonder if any of them ever think, Gee, I wonder what Roo is doing now?, it’s really quite interesting to think about.

But one thing for sure, I will never stay up that late again. I hate being sentimental.

Wow, this site will be 2 years old soon

I’m actually surprised people still come on here to comment on my little ol’ blogs. You guys are the bestest :) I promise to comment back dutifully from now on. If not… may the evil munchkins (Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas… ew… epic fail) that killed the somewhat new Studio Ghibli movie, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, eat my soul.

Anyhow, I suppose I should do something big to celebrate this event… maybe hold a contest? Give away free stuff in general?… Well, if you guys have any ideas, I’m all ears.
