Usually in my household, we fend for ourselves when it comes to food. Mum, reserving to her carryout nonsense and I, to the oh-so-painless instant noodles. Yesterday however, I decided to brave the world of culinary arts and attempt to make Mongolian beef. Usually this dish is made with green onions, but since we didn’t have any on hand (outrageous!) I had to resort to substituting the very important ingredient with a regular onion. Since I am an avid watcher of the Food Network, I know a few tricks when it comes to cutting onions. For instance, if you don’t want the waterworks to start, throw on a pair of sunglasses. Which I did, naturally, I always trust what the food experts. After the cutting was done, I moved on to the meat- which is actually pretty nasty if you look too close. After 20 minutes or so, the stove was on high and the oil was crackling merrily, the meat was browning nicely and my sauce was thickening. (I praise the miracle that is soy sauce.) This is when it all started to go downhill, right when I reached for my bowl of onions. I had assumed at this point that it was safe to take my sunglasses off. Because you never see Rachel Ray cooking with sunglasses on, do you? Oh boy, that was one strong onion, during the process when transferring the onions to the pan, I started tearing up. Instinctively, I reached up and whipped my eyes with my hand. Needless to say that the stinging pain got worse, way worse. The rest of my night involved many trips to the bathroom and half a container of soap… I’ll spare the gruesome details.
Site wise:
I was extremely pleased when I checked the site’s statistics today
rooeh.net has been averaging 300-480 unique hits per day this week! Thank you so much for visiting this humble site, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. To celebrate, I’ve added a new brush set, and plan on adding the vector stocks I’ve prepared. As well as some new textures  I think they’ll receive your approval.

12:14 am on 8/27/07Sucks, lol. Yeah, substituting onions probably wasn’t such a good idea. I mean, they taste good (I like them better than green onions) but if you aren’t used to being around them their going to make your eyes burn a lot.
Don’t worry, next time I’m sure that it’ll go better! Good luck!

Visit Ella's siteYou’re not alone my dear Roo-ey-kins. I tried to make a two layer cake from a mix… well, I don’t know what happened, but it ended up being about an inch tall and all of the devil’s-food-chocolate-yumminess was intensified into the tiny little slices… yeah, we threw it away.
But anyway, keep it up
