Caution: This will be a pretty boring blog for those who love to read about the misfortunes and miseries of others.
Practically my whole day has been oriented around two events, one, the orchestra picnic and two, going to the mall with my buddy Sydney. Since I usually tend to spend Saturdays alone and work on the site, it was a refreshing change.
Around 9:00, I woke up (wow! early) and started putting up the new layout to the site- which I think I’m going to tear down soon and renovate later today- this took me about 2-3 hours. Which brought me to the tedious task of making rice krispie treats to bring to the picnic. The only thing I hated about making the treats was that I sort of got my elbow in some of the marshmallows. And that burned, a lot… and was nearly impossible to get off my skin fast enough. (Since we all know that marshmallows are basically made up of sugar.) Hot sugar burning your skin is no laughing matter.
Then, later on around 2:00 or so, I met up with Yasi and we walked to CVS where Ham and Syd were waiting. We all walked happily enough, me complaining the whole way about how the sun was killing me, to the picnic site at Arbor Hills. There I met up with some of the other friends, who looked 100 times better than I felt, suffering from heatstroke and dehydration.
The agenda of the picnic involved around the Amazing Race event we all had to participate in. Sadly though, the teams were already predetermined… but I was with Ham and Krisite, so it was all cool in the end. The first thing our team had to do was the Red Light, Green Light Race. While linking arms. I feel sorry for my teammates, if it wasn’t for my dead weight dragging them down, we could have won. Next off was the Sponge Race, we had to transfer water from one bucket to another using sponges. Again, I hindered my group’s chance of victory, having accidentally added water to another team’s bucket. Stupid move, I know. After being cooled down by the water, we ran across the parking lot to the Three Legged Race. No need to mention that I destroyed any slim chance of winning here. I just feel sorry for Ham, who was the partner that I kept dragging down when I fell, onto sharp sticks and rocks of all sorts. The last chance I had to redeem myself was with the Potato Sack Race- although we used heavy duty (I assume) garbage bags. I won’t even say how much I screwed up on this one… I’m going to just let bygones be bygones.
My team didn’t even bother with the Charades, we just plopped down on the benches in the pavilion and watched the other groups make funny gestures. That was the planned part of the picnic.
After resting up and drinking half a bottle of water, I finally noticed that most of the people who showed up weren’t around. So I went over to the field to see what was up. Emily, along with a few other sophomores and freshmen were in the midst of a water fight… lovely. I was optimistic enough at that time, only expecting the occasional wet sponge thrown my way. But no, most of the drenched people seemed determined to get the dry people, me, wet and in their state of hypothermia. About 3 or 4 minutes of standing around and chatting, I felt someone standing behind me. When I turned around, I was facing a cooler full of water which was in the process of being turned over on my head.
I was no longer the happy Roo everyone knew, I had turned to my evil-revenge-seeking mode.
Yeah, it was war. ![]()
Now thinking back, I may have taken it too seriously, but hey, I’m one of those types that get even. I suppose that back in first grade, I never got the message that “two wrongs don’t make a right” or something similar to that effect. For the more water I doused on other people, the more drenched I got. So maybe I shall have to take my revenge on a few individuals in another way? I will start scheming and post later about my results- hopefully luck will be on my side. (Insert evil laugh here.)
So far my list consists of-
- David
- Yasi
- Derek
All in all, I had a blast at the picnic. So, officers, that was a job well done… although next time, don’t do the Potato Sack Race downhill. :annoyed:
My lovely day continued with my trip to the North Park Mall with Syd. Our goal- well, I’m not exactly sure what it was yet. We didn’t really buy too much today, most of my money was spent at Hollister, since Syd has a nice eye for clothing. She is my little saint when it comes to shopping, having an almost endless supply of patience. Unlike past trips with some other people. The ones who think it’s funny to yell “STALKER!” whilst hiding in stores when I lag behind.

Sorry for this terribly long blog, I suppose it makes up for all the days I don’t have enough time to write about my oh so interesting life.
Anyways, look forward to several new stock illustrations this week! I promised to have them up weeks ago, and I’m finally going to force myself to get the task done. Also, a new layout should be coming soon, and it will be fabulous.

8:39 pm on 9/23/07Ella
Visit Ella's siteLOL, the layout is great. And I see you haven’t changed much in the revenge-seeking side of you :). As far as I know, our orchestra doesn’t do stuff like that. Not that I’d know, or that it would matter, because I’m not in orchestra. Our band and choir definitely don’t, but we do get to go to New York and Disney World and various other places (various other places meaning that the choir switches off every other year: trip, NY trip, trip, NY trip. And the just plain trips change every time. Last time it was to TX! But I wasn’t in 9th grade yet…)
Anyway, I thought it was a good post, and you provided enough personal mishaps for me to be laughing the whole time (TOTALLY KIDDING, haha). I just have to let you know, whenever I do three-legged races, my partner falls down because of my… let’s call it ‘enthusiasm’. And I wouldn’t even have a chance at making rice krispie treats. So we’re in the same boat
