Still Alive :]

Since this week has been hectic, the only time I have to write really is today, instead of my usual Friday blogging spree. So yes, I am still alive and breathing in case anyone was wondering.

I’m not sure why all the homework usually gathers up on one day out of the week for me. And of course, that day has to be Wednesday, when I have my lovely cello lessons- which means I usually get home around 9:30pm or so. I have pretty much given up getting a full 8 hours of sleep lately, HA! who needs sleep? Certainly not I.

The major event of last week I suppose was the orchestra concert which took place on Thursday night. After getting home from school at around 5:00, I only had enough time to take a sad 30 minute power nap and swallow a few bites off a banana. Then I dashed upstairs to throw on the pitiful excuse for a dress that the school provided. Most of my friends think these uniforms look like maternity clothing, I think that I’d be happier if that was the case, since at least the material would be more soft and loose around the shoulders. I can imagine that I looked like an idiot trying to get the zipper, since it was literally impossible for me to stretch my arms around to the back.

This time around, my neighbor, Ashton, was nice enough to give me a ride to the hour rehearsal before the concert. I can’t wait until I can drive my own lazy bum around. :T I know, an hour isn’t as bad as it could have been, but the lighting director kept on amusing himself with the dimmer throughout the rehersal. All in all, the concert itself went pretty well, at least I didn’t fling my bow out at one of the audience members by accident. My knuckles were white from the death grip I had on the poor bow anyways, just in case.

On Saturday afternoon I went out on a date with Eva to see the Crow Collection of Asian Art, for a project. It was located in a very artsy part of Dallas that I’ve never seen before, there were at least 3-4 museums in the area where we visited. We spent three hours taking notes on the ceramics exhibit, although my favorite part of the day was when we stopped by the snuff bottles. These were bottles which were used to hold tobacco, my favorite one that was a perfect replica of a walnut.

The rest of my weekend was spent mostly working on a layout with Liz of saruna.net. I must say that it was a blast to work with her, even though there were a lot of details to consider, especially since we had different styles when it came to coding. But I think the end result turned out awesome, so please check that out and give me some feedback!

Sitewise

Don’t be expecting much of me this week, since it is the last 5 days before all region, yikes! I promise I will put up the brand spanking new css template I’ve been working on this following weekend though.

  3. LOL, Roo, you’re so funny :D
Luckily, at band concerts we have no bows to fling at people. I can’t believe you have to wear dresses. For marching band we have to wear hideously ugly westhighspiritwesthighspiritwesthighspirit suits, but after that it’s just black on bottom, white on top. The concert choir (top choir @ West, you have to audition to get in and you can only audition once you’re a junior) has dresses and tuxes for their uniforms, but that’s it… you’re right, though, they are ugly. I don’t know about yours, but the concert choir dresses are short sleeved, floor length, REALLY high waisted, and above the waist is fake leather or something and below is fake velvet. Not a very nice ensemble. They also have to wear heels and pearl necklaces XD I won’t have to worry about that until I’m a junior, though.

Hey, guess what! I found out that our choir program won a grammy!

  14. Ha, I enjoyed reading your blog, it was so… amusing. I’m glad the orchestra concert went well, but it sounds like you didn’t have to fun wearing that dress? Lol. My band concert is coming up soon and thank god all I have to wear is black slacks, black button up and an all black tie. It’s gonna look like an army of men in black when we walk across the stage.

I can’t wait to see the new template, it should be pretty amazing since apparently your site is just that amazing. Have fun.

  18. Hi, nice site you have here. I love your layout, it’s not a surprise that you’ve won Saruna’s layout competition.
I advise you to remove Jordan (killinginthename.com) from your list of affiliates. He is a theif and it is an unwise decision to continue affiliating with him.
Please read Jessica’s (swimchick.net) blog. You may need to scroll down a bit to find the post mentioning Jordan. Thank you :)

  19. If I don’t sleep I walk around like a living zombie. My eyes get all puffy and when people talk to me, I’m like, huh? what just happened? That’s why when I can’t sleep, I go ‘omggggg nooo! I can’t sleep ):’.

Ugh. I hate homework. I always try to delay it to the last minute, but it ends up even worse because then I cannot make it to the deadline. And the teacher starts shouting at me, lol.

You learn cello? Huh. I never held a cello ever before. I’m have gathered that I’m not too good with string instruments. I nearly broke my friend’s violin. Besides, the only instrument that actually works for me is a piano. But I failed at that too.

Ew. I hate dresses. Makes me look like those crazy old lady wannabes  And it’s also so uncomfortable. I can’t act maturely all the time, so I will probably break the dress
eventually. Just give me 2 hours, it WILL happen.

  23. Ah, never mind. I think it was a typing error on my part, but it’s back to normal now :D
