Flu Season

As many of you may have realized, there have been an increasing amount of people falling victim to the flu recently. I, am one of those poor unfortunate souls with a weak immune system. Having the flu is no laughing matter, sure, you get to miss school for a few days, but the makeup work that accumulates isn’t really worth it all. At first I was in a happy place, the fever making me sleep most of the day away, dreaming of dancing cough drops and whatnots. But the days after the fever subsided were torture, pure unfathomable torture. Imagine sitting in bed, too weak to move around and doing makeup notes while coughing up a lung.
Yeah, a big bucket of fun right there ladies and gents. All and all, I’m going to start taking much better care of myself and the other germy people around me. So watch out, if you dare sneeze near me, I’m going to have to spray a can of Lysol at you.

Popcorn fight!

Last Saturday, I went the the Pocket Sandwich Theater with my friend, Syd. At first, when we stopped by the old fashioned comic store with a life size Spiderman figure in the window, I thought that Syd had mixed up the directions. But in fact we were headed for the dingy looking restaurant right beside Spiderman’s shiny plastic booty. At first when we entered, some careless passerby made me go spinning into a furry and stinky moosehead. After the initial shock of staring into the dead shiny eyes of this gigantic novelty item, I started to realize the other decorations on the wall. For example, huge portraits of the Easter bunny, vintage chandeliers, and a portable popcorn making cart. How eccentric, I thought as I walked to our table and started looking around, where a wall of hats caught my attention. Being dutiful and wanting to write about this in my HAE (the reason I have to drag myself out every six weeks to enjoy some delightful art experience), I got up for a closer look. Due to my bad eyesight and the eerie red glow of the hallway, it was oh so typical that I jumped and screamed at a lady who brushed up against me on her way to the bathroom. She then gave me an insulted look and I dashed back to the table where a waitress was ready to take our order. I got this mushroom pita sandwich like thing that was very tasty and drenched in grease- which really makes everything taste better.

About thirty or so minutes later, the play finally began. It was this play that intrigued Syd to first choose the Pocket Sandwich Theater. Truthfully, I found Attack! Of the Killer Mutant Leeches lacking in plot and a bit cheesy. However I did enjoy the character of Luttie Mae, a former Vegas dance girl that loved doing her exotic version of The Macerena. The first intermission was where the fun really began. Every table had been brought complementary popcorn that wasn’t too terribly tasty, so instead of eating it, we were allowed to throw it at the actors and actresses. Some especially funny kids thought it would be interesting to try and dump popcorn down my shirt, which isn’t the most pleasant feeling in the world. I will forever have the feeling of the dry and poky kernels down my back and front. All and all, I had a good time that night trying to aim popcorn at a few group’s pitchers of beer.

Sitewise
Recently I know I have been neglecting the site somewhat. But fear not, since exams are over, I am making a full comeback! Although it might be delayed somewhat since I will be working with Liz, Elise, and Jocelyn on the new unnamed Saruna MB. Mainly, I’ll be doing hacks and a few vectors here and there to help out. Meanwhile, I’ve entered another web design contest, http://tcea.rooeh.net, its too bad that it turned out a bit of a disappointment. Tell me what you all think?

  1. I’m sorry you got sick (although your misery was a teensy bit amusing) but my immune system is a monster! I got sick for the first time this year since 3rd grade, fever of 103, but I fully recovered the very same night.

When CJ McK told us the concept of the pocket sandwich theater, it never sounded too appealing to me, so I’ve never been. Doesn’t sound like the most dignifying job…

    hope you’re feeling better =)

  7. Hey there Roo, that sandwich place sounds interesting, I’d love to visit one day, despite getting frightened in the glowing hallways.

I checked out the page you entered for the web contest, it’s really cool. It’s like a mini information site, I love it. Now, I want to create my own vectors :) Thanks for the inspiration.

Meanwhile, I heard about the MB Saruna will open up. You guys always work together, so it should be just fine. Goodluck with that!

P.S. Glad you’re feeling better from the flu. It’s the worst!!

  9. I’m glad you have a sense of humor good enough to make your suffering sound funny! I have to say, though, you’re in nice, balmy Texas (although admittedly, it is colder than I expected). It’s frigid here– no kidding. We have an inch and a half of ice on our street, and we have since November. Needless to say, I feel your pain. Well, actually I don’t. I haven’t had the flu in years. But one week at my school, people were just dropping like flies. I don’t know if it was the flu– I think it was closer to the plague. But half my English class was gone. I could just picture you walking in the door armed with like 9 spray bottles of Lysol XD

I miss you like crazyyyyy… hope you’re having fun in Texas ^_^
