I use cyberduck FTP. It's free and it's pretty easy to use. Also, for coding, textwrangler is pretty good. I like it because it's just like coding with notepad but its a little more advanced. I'll check out Filezilla though! Ah, I get what you're saying about the Apps... but then again I'm generally too lazy to go through and thoroughly delete them... I just end up hiding them in some folder - out of sight, out of mind. I think the main reason I decided to go with a mac is because of it's security... I really don't have enough money to throw into a new laptop every 2 years, which is generally what I end up doing if I go the PC route. Oh well, there are trade-offs... but I guess all in all, I'm lucky to have something that allows me to get on the internet and type up my papers.
