Day 26: Why I Love Coding

Although I no longer code anywhere close to the amount I did in high school, I have realized several unexpected benefits from my years of sitting in front of the computer. The most important, in my opinion, is my typing speed. Although last semester I rarely needed to take notes in class, this semester my laptop has been extremely useful. While I watch others around me struggle to record important facts and tidbits, I can only thank my well-trained digits that I don’t have to stress over incomplete notes. Yep – become a coder, you’ll thank yourself later.

Being a coder has kind of been a curse for me. In class we are required to use Dreamweaver when coding and it has this auto code system and because I know the code myself, I’ll often end up with double the code.

Thankfully I’ve never been forced to use Dreamweaver, although I have edited other’s code that was created in it. Personally, I guess it is easier to use it if you are a beginner (since it lines up the tags for you), but I think it’s better to learn from scratch because Dreamweaver teaches HORRIBLE habits

I’ve never thought about coding that way before…It is definitely a benefit. I will admit that when I make an effort to code pages – which I need to work on, that my typing gets better the longer that I do it. :)
